  • Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Wedding | Emma & Maurice

So yesterday it was the turn of the lovely Emma and Maurice to walk down the aisle in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel. When I arrived at Emmas, Make Up was finished by the lovely Tanya, who was double jobbing as she was also the Chief Bridesmaid :) Hair was in progress and the girls were lovely and relaxed. The weather was perfect, mild with a little cloud cover so no harsh shadows or squinting to be seen !! After some chatiing and some getting ready, well alot of chatting really, it was time to make our way to the hotel

We were warmly greeted on arrival by Rory and his fab team ! I have to give them an extra special mention, they were wonderful, and couldn't do enough for the Bridal Party, myself or the other wedding attendees. 10 out of 10 definitely due to them, great job guys.

I hooked up then with Doug the Videographer from Starmaker Promotions. Its always lovely to work alongside Doug, he's a gentleman !

After the short but sweet ceremony guest mingled in the foyer and bar, while we took a few minutes out for pics in the lovely little garden area beside the hotel. Time then for a very, very tasty dinner and the speeches. The main theme of the day was family and that definitely ran true during the speeches, along with a tear or two from myself !! I'm such a softie lol !!

Once all the formalities were over it was time for the party to get started. The band, Pink Champagne arrived and Cathal promised me that they would be ready to go in 15 minutes !! Something I had never witnessed before, but they were true to their word and they were ready to go 15 minutes later !! No wonder they were voted the Weddingsonline 2015 Wedding Band of the Year !! Afer the first dance sung by the couple's friend, Brendan, Pink Champagne kicked it off straight away toa  packed dancefloor.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day.

  • The Wedding of Fiona & Craig | Roundwood House Co. Laois

This is definitely up there with my all time favourite weddings !!! A fab, relaxed couple, a gorgeous venue, a funny quirky crowd and a wee man that would remind you of the Jerry Maguire kid :)

Last Friday I high-tailed it to Mounrath and Roundwood House. Its a venue I haven't shot in before but one I was very much looking forward to shooting in. And it didn't dissapoint ! As you come up the lovely leafy drive the atmosphere of the place hits you. Its amazingly charming, rustic and most of all relaxed. It feels like your home. Hannah and her staff are warm and welcoming and look after you like you were their own.

After chats over Skype with Fiona and Craig it was lovely to finally meet in person. They are my first couple ever to do the 'First Look'. I was so excited when I realised !! It didn't dissapoint either :)

After a wonderful Humanist Ceremony, in front of Family and Friends in the grand Entrance Hall of Roundwood House, we headed into the sprawling gardens for photo fun. The were so many little hidey nooks and quirky locations, I found it hard to choose which ones to use, so we used pretty much most of them. And we had just set foot back inside the door before the rain came, happy days !!

Dinner was served in 'The Barn' and guests were treated to a fantastic spread. I have to say it was the best wedding meal I have ever had and I have partaken in more than my fair share over the past few years.

Once the speeches were finished we all rolled back over to the house with full tummies for a night of dancing and romancing.

A fantastic day and thank you so much to Fiona & Craig for asking me to be part of it and to Hannah and your team for looking after us all so well !!

Here are some of my fav images from the day.

  • The Wedding of Teresa & Kieran........ Lexlip Manor and Gardens

The sun shone all day !! Yahooo !!!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of an past work colleague of mine, and it definitely was a pleasure. Lots of conventions were broken and it really was a truely personal, no stress, chill out wedding day :)

The sun was splitting the stones as the guests began arriving at St. Patricks Church in Lucan. This I have to say is a little gem of a church. Behind the altar are beautiful ceiling high windows, a dream for a photographer such a myself with a penchant for working with natural light :) After a slight false start, up an aisle with no priest at the top of it, my Bride swept up it in her beautiful grecian style gown. I think that gown definitely set the tone for the day to come, beautiful and relaxed !

After a lovely ceremony and a balancing act by me on the church wall to get the group shot we headed to Leixlip Manor and Gardens . They, I think may be getting sick of the sight of me as it was my third wedding there in the space of a few short weeks. I love working there though, the walled gardens are fantastic and the house itself is beautiful and so welcoming ! Being a lovely sunny day most guests congegrated outside and chatted away happily until the dinner call, munching on lovely personalised M&M's. Myself and my Bride and Groom took a lovely walk through the gardens and a bit of off-roading also into the field too for some couple portraits.

Dinner time flew around (very tasty indeed !) and after lots of lovely chats and catch ups with old friends, it was time for the first dance. The band The Converse Allstars had the place rocking as I took my leave.

Thanks so much Teresa & Kieran for asking me to cover your day !!

  • Celbridge celebrations !! ...... Claire & Patrick.....

If I had to sum up yesterdays wedding in two words they would be 'Family Celebration'. Thats all that mattered and thats all that it came back to from one end of the day to the other !! From Claire and Patrick and their gorgeous little man making it 'official', to their sisters, brothers, Mams and Dad, it was a privilege to be part of their day.

On arrival to Claires sisters I was greeted with the sound of excited laughter and chatter from the kitchen. It was the hub of the morning operation ! Make-Up artist and Hair dresser working side by side,  putting the finishing touches to the fab Bridal Party. Poor Dad was a little outnumbered by all the ladies, but he took that all in his stride :)

It was at this time I started to notice the amount of attention to detail that had gone into the planning of this wedding !! Unbelieveable all the little personal touches that carried on throughout the day. Here is just a taster of a few.

So after what we will just say was a STRESSFUL journey to St. Agnes Church in Crumlin, the deed was done and Claire and Patrick were now man and wife. Little Evan decided that this meant his Mammy was now his wife too and was wondering where his wedding ring was, far far too cute !!!

The sun was then shining brightly so we had a chance to do some formal and not so formal shots in the beautiful gardens of Leixlip Manor. I LOVE these gardens, endless opportunitys for fab shots.

As the saying goes, alls well that ends well and as I left, this family of 3 looked pretty happy to me !!

  • A sunny Springfield Session......

So at the end of a double wedding weekend to say the least I'm shattered !!

I started off in lovely Trim, Co. Meath on Friday for Lisa & Chris's big day. The weather forecast was favourable, sunny with a chance of a few showers so not too bad !!

Preparations were well underway at the house by the time I started coverage, a very organised lot altogether !! Champagne and bubbly raspberry (I kid you not !!) was in full flow. After a slight Bridesmaid dress hiccup we were all taped up and ready to hit the road :)

I had never been in St Patricks Church in Trim before, and wow what a magnificent building ! A real treat to shoot in !!

The beautiful Trim Castle was the setting for a lovely stroll with the Bridal party. Well when I say lovely stroll, it was a rather quick stroll as the ominous cloud hanging over us spat a few warnings out lol !!

We ended the day in the relaxing surroundings of the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip with the coolest cake I've seen in a while !! It certainly was a day the promised a Happily Ever After :) xxx

  • 'Older Newborn' Sessions...... Oldborns......

So I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I get lots of queries from parents of newborns, who are past the photography newborn stage, ie 14 days old. I always feel so bad telling them that their brand new baby is too old to have a session done !! With this in mind I have come up with a session that is suitable up until the 6/8 week old stage. After that time it is definitely worth the wait until the Tummy Time Session.

Of course it is possible to photograph older newborns, we just jave to tweak our approach and our expectations !

Here are the details peeps :)

  • An intimate K-Club Celebration - Yvonne & Brian......

What a pleasure to be involved in this afternoons wedding. Chaufeurs, trains and automobiles..... and that was just me getting round the place !!

I love, love, love being involved in small weddings. You become part of them and its a fab thing. Todays wedding was my smallest yet 19 peeps and 2 gorgeous kiddos, my kinda day !

We kicked off in the Registry Office, for a lovely little intimate service. The ice being broken by the start of the day, flower girl and daughter of the Bride and Groom Robin's dance to the entrance song. Well whats a little girl going to do but twirl when she's wearing the ultimate princess outfit complete with diamonds on her shoes ....

We left the City Centre behind us and headed for the country side and the luxurious surroundings of the K-Club. Even though I only live 10 minutes drive from it, this was my first visit to the K-Club. And my goodness what have I been missing out on, the grounds are FAB-U-LOUS. Every corner revealing another gorgeous location for a Bridal Party shoot !! The W.B. Yeats room was ready and waiting for us with magnificent views of the garden, and the sun had popped its head out. What more could you ask for !!

Some days I am reminded of what a privilege it is to do what I do, today was one of those days.

  • A blustery Ballymagarvey Day......

So for Sharon & Brians Special day today the weather started out promising. The rain of the last few days gone and replaced by wind and cloud, not too bad ! The atmosphere in Sharons parents house was organised and relaxed, perfect ! The prep was well under way by the time I arrived, with Dad in charge of sustinance and refreshments. The plan, to head to Ballymagarvey early so that everyone could relax for a bit before the ceremony.

With everyone and everything packed up we spun down the N2 to Balrath, Co. Meath. And wow, wow, wow, wow, is all I can say. What a stunning venue !! Its been on my must-shoot-there-list as well for a long time and it definitely didn't disappoint, A-MAZ-ing !!!

Guest and boys in situ, it was then time to get the lovely Humanist Ceremony under way. I have to say I love the Humanist celerations. They are just brim full of meaning and so thoughfully put together. A real joy to be part of. Sharon and Brian's service was exactly that too :)

Ballymagarvey has a wealth of stunning spots for a wedding shoot, I was dying to try out them all. But unluckily for us the weather gods decided that enough was enough and 5 mins into our Bridal Party shots the rain came tumbling down. Hopeful for a break later we reluctantly headed inside.

Throughout the day we were expertly looked after by John, the Ballmagarvey Wedding Coordinator and the rest of the staff. A bit of sunshine indoors on such a damp day. None the less all the guest were settled in to the fantastic banquet hall by the time I was leaving and it looked like it was going to be a fun packed evening ahead. Hope you guys are dancing your socks off by now !!

  • A lovely day in Lexlip - Ann-Marie & William....

So thank the Lord the weather Gods blessed us with the perfect wedding weather today !! I must admit I was kind of worried when I heard the rain beating against the windows last night.... But thankfully the sun shone this morning and by wedding time there was a light covering of cloud, perfect photo weather !!

The ladies were lovely and relaxed when I arrived in Leixlip. Hair pretty much finished by the lovely Lily and make-up done by themselves !! A very talented bunch :)

Ann-Marie was wearing the most beautiful head piece I've seen, a gorgeous alternative to a veil. It suited her to perfection ! And without much fuss or panic the time came for the short 2 minute spin around to the Church of St. Charles Borromeo and the awaiting guests and William of course !

Father presided over a very personal ceremony, Williams home parish priest had also made the journey to celebrate the mass with them. There was a bit of humour, a few tears and a weeney bit of nerves but it all came together beautifully. And waiting for them outside with a unique guard of honour were the 'Cave-People', Williams caving buddies :)

For the reception them we headed to one of my favourite local venues, Leixlip Manor & Gardens. Such a fabulous setting and with the gardens looking their best in todays sun, the perfect location for a wedding shoot !

As I left them this evening they were sitting down to what smelled like a fabulous meal, it certainly set my tummy rumbling.

And this blog would not be complete without one move appearance by the crazy 'Cave-People' !!

    Wishing you every happiness together,

    Linda xxx

  • The Before and After - A Newborn Experience ....

So its been a while since I blogged a Newborn Session and seens todays little man I had also met as a bump, I thought this was a great opportunity to do one.

My Bump et Bébe Package captures the before and after as it were of your lovely bump and then your newborn. People choose this package for different reasons, it may be your first pregnancy and you want to capture that or for that matter your last and you want lovely images of your bump to keep. The bump session is always considerably shorter than the newborn session, for obvious reasons. It normally last between 3/4 of an hour and an hour. We can have as many changes of outfit as you like. I have lovely maternity gowns here and you can of course bring some of your own outfits too. This package results in lovely before and after images.

A newborn session can last anything from 2 to 3 hours. We normally need to take plenty of feeding, burping and cuddling breaks. I will only ever do one newborn session a day so that there is no time pressure on us. I’m also knackered by the end of it too lol !

A newborn session will start with a baby with a full tummy, in my really toasty warm studio with a constant white noise on in the background. Once the baby is between 8 & 14 days old nine times out of ten this recipe ensures a very sleepy newbie. The session will begin with blanket and fur poses. Normally two or three colour changes and a variety of hats and tiebacks (for the girlies), depending on how settled the baby is. If a baby is a light sleeper it may be necessary to stick with the one colour and not disturb them by changing blanket, but this is a rare enough occurrence.

I will then move on to the family shots. Sometimes parents request not to do these but I will always ask are they sure. You may not want to put them on the mantlepiece but it is always lovely for the baby to look back on them when they are older to see you guys together when they were so new. Its a lovely way of detailing the closeness between parent and child, some of my favourite shots ever come from this part of the session and I have been know to shed a tear or two behind the camera myself !!

The tiny details, the little toes, the pink pursed lips, the cute run of their hairline, the eyelashes, I could go on and on ! All these things change so so fast so it is definitely important to get as many shots of these as we can.

And then, baby still being content and happy I end the session with some prop shots. This may be a basket, bucket, box or something that you have brought along yourself. Todays little man was wonderful and went through all the stages fast asleep. I got a two second glimpse of his lovely little eyes during the whole two hours. Huge congrats to his Mum and Dad !!
